A nineties dance singer has shared the exciting news that she is looking to relocate to Sherborne following her performance at a pride event.

Janice Robinson, best known for her platinum-selling number 1 global dance hit Dreamer, headlined the first ever Sherborne Pride.

The American singer, who has toured with Tina Turner, took to Instagram to share her love for Sherborne.

Her post read: “My heart is filled with so much joy and excitement that this beautiful little rural village will be where I call home while on tour.

“I love it so much that I am looking for a small flat to call home this summer, it’s absolutely the most quaint little village ever with the loveliest people.

“It’s amazing the way life unfolds and brings you everything your heart desires.”

The event took place on Sunday, July 7 at Pageant Gardens in Sherborne, featuring a parade through the town, pop up street performances and various LGBT stalls.

The line-up also saw Vicki Vivacious as Sherborne Pride’s headline drag act, who starred in series five of the popular TV competition RuPaul’s Drag Race UK.

During the event, Janice Robinson was seen showing her support for some of the stall holders, including Glenn Mahoney, owner of the business Mahoney candles who took a photo with the singer.

She added: “Sherborne Pride, it was truly an honour to be here and create a memory for everyone who is living their life authentically and proud. The LGBTQ+ community has been my biggest supporters throughout my entire career and I will forever be an ally.”
