More than £500 worth of nicotine replacement products were stolen from a Weymouth supermarket.
Police said two shoplifters travelled to Weymouth with the "sole intention" of shoplifting".
Officers from Weymouth were conducting patrols in Weymouth and were made aware of two people who had allegedly stolen the products from Asda.
The pair were seen walking into the town centre by the CCTV cameras
They were then detained by police in a car park on Commercial Road.
A spokesperson for Weymouth and Portland Police said: "Whilst we welcome visitors to the area these two were not local and had travelled to Weymouth with the sole intention of shoplifting.
"They were in possession of over £500 worth of nicotine replacement products. They are now both in custody whilst the matter is investigated further."
