A MAN is to appear in court accused of assaulting and threatening a person with a “knife”.

Christian Bocicai, 20, attended a voluntary police interview in December after an alleged brawl outside The White Hart in Corn Market, Wimborne on November 4.

After the incident, it led to Dorset Council reviewing the licence for the 17th century pub owned by Marston’s.

Dorset Police also raised concerns to the council, with sergeant Gareth Gosling saying the “individual responsible for the management of this premises fundamentally failed in the objective to prevent crime and disorder”.

Providing an update to the Echo, a police spokesman said: “The 20-year-old man from Christchurch who attended for a voluntary interview was issued with a postal requisition to appear at court for offences of assault and threatening a person with a blade or pointed article in a public place.”

Bocicai appeared at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, June 26 and is next due to appear at Bournemouth Crown Court on Thursday, August 1.

As reported , following Dorset Council’s hearing, new conditions were imposed on the pub, which had since changed landlords.

It included CCTV to cover all exit and entry points and an incident log to be kept to include any crimes reported; the ejection of patrons, incidents of disorder, refusals to sell alcohol and any complaints received.

The pub was also told to employ qualified, uniformed, door supervisors on Fridays and Saturdays from 7pm until 30 minutes after closure and on New Year’s eve and Christmas Eve.

It was also decided steps were to be taken to minimise the use, or supply, or drugs with staff to carry out more regular collection of bottles and glasses.

Checks were told to be made on the noise coming from the premises with sound levels reduced during the last 30 minutes of trading.

New trading hours include drink sales until 11.30pm on Fridays and Saturdays, 11pm for the remainder of the week and 10.30pm on Sundays.

Extended hours are to be allowed over Bank Holiday weekends with a series of special conditions to apply for Wimborne Folk Festival week.
