A MAN has appeared in court to deny driving dangerously following a cement mixer lorry crash that seriously injured two children.
Stephen Farrant was at Weymouth Magistrates Court on Wednesday, July 3 to plead not guilty to two charges of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
He did admit a charge of drug driving.
This relates to an incident on the A30 at Sherborne on July 24, 2023 involving a Scania cement mixer lorry the defendant was driving.
Farrant, 53, admitted to being over the drug drive limit, namely having 334 micrograms of Benzoylecgonine - the main metabolite in cocaine - per litre of blood. The legal limit is 50 micrograms per litre of blood.
The case was adjourned and Farrant, of Gainsborough Way in Yeovil, will next appear at Bournemouth Crown Court on Thursday, August 1.
He is on unconditional bail but has been given an interim disqualification from driving.
