It’s full steam ahead as an immersive steam engine and vintage show returns to Dorset this weekend.
The Chickerell Steam and Vintage Show will be held once again today and tomorrow at Moor Farm showcasing an impressive display of vintage cars, lorries motorbikes and steam engines.
The family show is organised and run by local volunteers with hundreds of people flocking to enjoy the displays as well as live music and plenty of activities.
One of this year’s main attractions will be the arrival of a rare showman’s engine called "Onward" which, according to the organisers, is one of only four “Super Lion” showman’s road locomotives in world.
The event kicked off at 7pm on Friday with live music from Vinyl Revival, That Britpop Band and The Stereoironics.
Saturday’s live music lineup features: Finlay Leslie, Mark Loxley, The Undecided, Bring Me the Pistols, 5 O’clock Heroes, Balance of Power, Chief Lazarus, Guns of Navarone and Under the Carousel.
Sunday will see performances from The Leggomen, Nautical Graffiti, Dirty Ponchos, Sadcult and Rhinefield.
On top of the vehicle displays, day attractions include a fun fair, children’s rides, craft/trade stalls, birds of prey and blacksmith demonstrations and beer and food tents selling local produce.
The Ranch, which organises therapy and wellness activities involving animals, will also be bringing reptiles, goats and miniature ponies along.
Organiser Joe Allen said: “We’re very thankful to Terry and Sandra Sleeman for bringing the special engine onward all the way up from Cornwall. We’re very proud and honoured to feature it at this year’s event
“We just want people to have lovely time and enjoy it. It’s all run by volunteers and local people. We want our community, local people and any tourists who come along to have a fabulous time and come away saying wow.
“Everyone gets involved because they want to see all the smiles and everyone enjoying themselves. We do it for the love of doing it and it’s about giving something four our community to enjoy.”
Tickets start from £6 and you can find more information on the Chickerell Steam and Vintage Show website: https://chickerellsteamshow.uk/.
