Residents of Crossways have spoken of their "shock" after police raided a block of flats, seizing drugs and arresting a man.

As previously reported, drugs and cash were seized and a man was arrested during a police raid in Crossways.

Marion Legge lives on Empool Close in Crossways, near the flats where the drug raid took place.

She said: “I saw the vehicles as I took my dog out for a walk.

“We didn’t hear the police cars at all, I don’t know if they had sirens or not.

“It did shock me, I saw the police cars and a big van and some sniffer dogs.

“On my return, I saw the policeman get a dog out so I made my dog sit and wait.”

Neighbourhood police officers executed a warrant at an address on Mount Skippet Way in Crossways on Friday, June 28.

Officers from the local neighbourhood policing team carried out a warrant under section eight of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act at an address in Mount Skippet Way area of Crossways, at around 9.50am on Friday, June 28.

Officers located and seized suspected class A and class B drugs, as well as a large quantity of cash.

A 56-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class A.

At the address, concerns were raised for the welfare of a dog that was inside.

Officers took the dog to a vets, where it will be picked up by a rescue association and provided with veterinary treatment.

Another resident, who did not want to be named, added: “I saw three or four policemen, they had hold of a dog there but they didn’t say it was a dog lost.

“It was all a bit quiet actually, but we had no idea what was going on really.”

Neighbourhood Sergeant Anneka Stone, of Dorchester police, said: “We will relentlessly pursue anyone who is suspected of dealing drugs in our community.

“We know that drug-related activity can blight the lives of residents and visitors and we will continue to do all we can to identify those reportedly involved.

“Officers were also able to safeguard a dog and ensure it receives appropriate care.
