A history talk will be taking place in Weymouth delving into the findings of a wages ledger from an East Dorset house.

The National Trust South Dorset Association (NTSDA) will be inviting Valerie Brenton, Dorset History Centre volunteer to present a talk entitled Dusting and Digging: The Revelations of a Wages Ledger (Kingston Lacy Bankes Estate) 1796 -1829.

The talk will explore what the estate ledger appears to cover and what supporting documents did not survive over the years. The ledger will also be used to find out about the names of domestic staff that worked at the historic house, including many female day labourers.

It will be held at 2.30pm on Tuesday, July 2 at St Aldhelm's Centre on Spa Road in Weymouth.

Tickets cost £3 for NTSDA members and £4 for non-members, this will include refreshments and there’s no need to book in advance.
