West Dorset’s main summer attraction, the Melplash Agricultural Show in West Bay, Bridport promises to be another fantastic day out for all the family. 

As always you will be able to see the finest livestock in the area on show in the competition classes – cattle, sheep, goats and pigs – as well as the best horses and ponies in the equine classes. In the Horticulture, Floral Arts, Bee, Woodcraft,  Home Produce and Handicraft marquees there is a wonderful selection of competition classes for you and your family to enter. In the Bradford Main Ring, there is going to be some very special main attractions to enjoy.   The Society is very honoured to be welcoming the magnificent Kings Troop Royal Horse Artillery.  One of only three similar events that they are appearing at this year. A team of six military horses will be pulling a First World War Quick Firing 13-Pounder Gun and demonstrating how the horses, drivers and gunners work precisely together to execute complex manoeuvres around the battlefield whilst travelling at speed!

Team Pawsability will also be putting their dogs through their paces in a circular knockout agility competition.  Each of the main attractions will perform twice on the day so plenty of opportunity to see them. They will be joined by Show Jumping, including a Horse of the Year Qualifier, hounds and beagles  and the magnificent parade of prize winning animals!

Further FREE activities and entertainment will be taking place around the Show field: the popular Discover Farming Marquees will  be packed full of interactive farming to food activities for children to explore and find out where their food comes from, how farmers care for the environment, and how the environment and good local food cares for us all; the Sheep Show; and in the Kitson and Trotman Countryside Arena:

Seven local chefs will be demonstrating their culinary skills in the Moores Biscuit Cookery theatre, the Food Hall is going to be packed with tasty treats and there will be over four hundred trade stands across the three fields selling everything from plants, jewellery, clothes, tractors and mowers as well as those providing valuable services to help you in your home and work life..

Early bird tickets are now available to buy online for £20 ( £22 on the gate) Admission is FREE for Children 16 years and under. 

The Show

There are FREE shuttle buses from Lyme Regis, Charmouth, Chideock and Bridport, FREE Park & Ride on the Burton Road B3157 and Walditch; FREE parking including disabled in the Main Show car park off the A35.
