Holidaymakers have described Weymouth as having the 'nicest beach in the UK' as traders look forward to a busy summer.
The sun was out and temperatures hit 20C as beachgoers flocked to Weymouth to enjoy the good weather.
With the weather not being great of late, beach traders were pleased to see holidaymakers.

Debbie Rait, who works at one of the beach gift huts along the Esplanade, is looking forward to the good weather forecast with temperatures set to reach 23C next week.
She said: "It's really picked up and it's gorgeous - there are far more people on the beach now.
"We are looking forward to the weekend with the Armed Forces Celebrations and next week looks amazing."
Jackie Wade, an employee working on one of the beach huts selling ice cream, said they had had a 'really bad start to the season' but with the weather improving, it is not just holidaymakers taking advantage of Weymouth's award-winning beach.

She said: "It brings a lot more of the locals out - even the pedalos are out - which is a good sign.
"As soon as the sun is out people come down."
The Hayes family from Rugby in Warwickshire described the beach as the 'nicest' in the UK as they prepared to stage a sandcastle war.
Sam Hayes said: "This is the 15th time we have been to Weymouth and the kids 4th time.
"Everything about it has a family feel and everyone is really friendly, there is the fair and the harbour too.
"It's the nicest beach in the UK, maybe we will move here one day."

Tilly Dowling, from Bristol, was with her mum Suzanne and son Amari and are also regular visitors to Weymouth - although they had to dodge a few seagulls as they set up camp.
She said: "It's lovely down here and it is nice to enjoy they weather and get an ice cream.
"Weymouth is lovely, it is our favourite place to come.
"I grew up coming down here and it has some lovely memories.
"The seagulls are a pain though."

Not everyone on the beach was a regular though.
Brad Wilson and his wife Hannah from Bedfordshire was visiting for his first time with their young daughter and admitted the beach and town had left a good first impression on them.
Brad said: "It is my first time and it is really nice.
"The beach is nice and clean and the water is nice and clear - although it is freezing - but our daughter is enjoying it and that is what matters."
