The weekend is fast approaching and it looks like the sun is going to carry on shining.

While there may be some overcast, the weather will be mostly dry with a 19-degree weather forecast.

We have put together a list of fun activities going on across the county this weekend for you to enjoy.

Armour and Embarkation event

The Armour & Embarkation event will see a convoy of around 100 wartime head out from the Tank Museum in Bovington to Brewery Square in Dorchester on Saturday June 22.

This immersive Second World War experience recreates the build up to the D-Day landings.

The vehicles will arrive in Dorchester at 3.30pm where the convoy drivers will then park up along Weymouth Avenue next to Brewery Square to greet visitors and answer questions.

Members of the public are invited to get fully immersed in the day by dressing up in period clothes of the 1940s.

Armed Forces Weekend

This annual event to celebrate and commemorate the armed forces, will be held in Weymouth between Friday, June 21, and Monday, June 24. 

Proceedings start on the Friday at the Jubilee Clock on the Esplanade between 6.30pm to 8.30pm with a display of Second World War vehicles.

On Saturday, June 22, the Dorset Vehicle Association will line up their historic military vehicles at the Pavilion forecourt from 10am before making their way down the Esplanade at 12.30pm.

There will also be live music from the Decadettes and the South Wales Police Band throughout the day.

A veterans service will be held at the cenotaph on Weymouth seafront at 11am on Sunday, June 23, followed by a parade along the seafront with marching bands and military vehicles.

On Monday, the weekend concludes with a flag raising ceremony held outside the Weymouth Town Council offices at the New Town Hall on Commercial Road.

Chesil Rocks Festival

The popular music and arts festival is being held at Higher Farm House in Langton Herring and will be raising money for Samaritans of Dorset.

Although the festival started on Thursday, there are still two more days of live music including a prelude of classical music and opera on the Friday.

Saturday's line-up includes with performances from guitar duo Trip Guitars, Evolution Dance Studio, singer songwriter Chris Davies, sea shanties from Dorset Wrecks, hip-hop from Chima 101, funk from Vanilla Radio and more.

Nettle Eating Contest

The heat is on as Dorset's World Nettle Eating Competition will once again be taking place at the Dorset Nectar Cider Farm on Pineapple Lane in Waytown, Bridport. 

The Bridport Town Crier will open the event with the contest beginning at approximately 4.30pm.

As around thirty competitors bravely munch their way through as many nettles as they can, there will be live music by Big Whisky and Shelby’s Elbows which will continue until the evening.

There will also be over 14 ciders and 4 craft beers available and the Tortilla Cantina will be serving Mexican Food.

Oliver`s Kitchen will also be serving local Cider Sausages in buns and Apple wood smoked pulled pork baps.
