The first of two specialist plant fairs is taking place this weekend in Abbotsbury.

The fair is being organised by conservation charity Plant Heritage and is being held at the award-winning Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens on Sunday, June 23.

It will be featuring 25-30 specialist nurseries and growers on top of some local quality crafts and wildlife stalls.

The fair is open from 10am until 3pm and the admission will be at a reduced £7.00, which also includes access to the gardens all day until 5pm (normally £12.95).

Admission for any UK Plant Heritage member is free on production of their membership card.

All proceeds from the event will support plant conservation, education and events in Dorset.

Last year £2,000 was raised for the conservation charity.

There is free parking, refreshments, including a solar-powered barista coffee stall amongst the plants.

A large 10m Plant Heritage stall will also feature inexpensive plants grown by its members, including national collection holders.

Plants will be available for for sale with cash and card, although 4G coverage is patchy so people are advised to bring cash.

A second fair will be taking place on Sunday, September 1.

Tickets can be bought on the day or via the Abbotsbury ticket website at https://abbotsburytickets.co.uk/events/
