Residents across Dorset are being reminded that plant pots cannot be recycled in their bins at home.

Dorset Council's waste services team have issued the reminder to residents and have also suggested ways in which plant pots can be reused.

A spokesperson for Dorset Council waster services said: "We're sorry, but we can't accept plant pots in your recycling bin.

"There are options for reuse.

You could use them yourself, take them it to a garden centre that has a plant pot reuse area (check our Zero Waste map) or promote them on an online reuse network."

The council’s Zero Waste Map shows places that help people reduce, reuse and recycle waste and items they no longer need or want.

On the map residents can find their nearest waste free shop, repair café, reusable nappy retailer, community fridge, social supermarket and food bank.
