THE next meeting of the Women's Institute will be in the village hall at 7.30pm on Tuesday, September 9, when Christopher Paton will tell members how to trace their family history.
Sounds interesting and new members and guests are always sure of a welcome.
There was no meeting during August but a garden party was held instead - and guess what - it rained.
Last year the August garden meeting had to be diverted to the village hall, but this year it was being held at the Dairy House where fortunately there was room for members to be inside in the dry.
Who knows, perhaps next year it might be third time lucky!
- THE village hall fundraising event of the Duck Race which was to have been held in September has been cancelled due to a clash of dates.
However, it is hoped that the wall cavity insulation will be completed before the cold weather is here, so there will be other fundraisers later - watch this space.
- NO PERMANENT booking clerk has been found as yet, but committee member Lilian Matthews will be taking it on as from mid-September.
Her telephone number is 01305 266082, so please contact her if you wish to use the village hall.
- AS I don't know in advance what is going on in the hall, (or anywhere else for that matter!) any more, please drop me a note of any event that is being organised which you would like mentioned in this column, or details of any event which has taken place, to Netley House, 10 North Steet (opposite the telephone kiosk).
