THE details of seventeen homes planned for the site of the Bull Tavern, Sturminster Newton are now open for public comment.

In principal approval to build on the site was originally granted in 2017.

The latest details submitted to Dorset Council show how the homes will fit onto the site and associated access arrangements, landscaping, and access and parking improvements for the pub on the corner of the site.

The Tavern, which is listed and dates from the 17th century, will remain in place just off the A357, almost opposite the iconic bridge over the River Stour into the town centre, with the housing development alongside and behind it.

At least three of the homes are planned to be ‘affordable.’ The homes vary from two to four-bed and feature detached, semi-detached and terraced homes which the designers say have features which will fit into the surrounding area.

The application comes from Guildford-based Oz Property and Capital Ltd.
