A man has been 'seriously injured' in crash on the coast road.

The collision involving a motorbike and a van has also closed part of the road from Portesham and Chickerell. 

It happened along Bramdon Lane close to its junction with Rodden Lane and an air ambulance from Wiltshire has been spotted at the scene.

Two fire engines and two ambulances have also attended the crash along with police officers.

Motorists are being advised to avoid the area and find alternative routes. 

An eye witness at the scene has described what she saw.

She said: "It looks quite bad and I hope to god that the biker is okay - it looked like the biker was over the hedge."

Another motorist who uses the road to commute to work everyday was saddened to hear of another motorcyclist being hurt in a crash. 

She said: "Its shocking to hear about another motorcyclists hurt in a crash and to hear of so many in such a short space of time. I hope they will be okay."

Another motorist who is trying to get to Rodden from Weymouth said: "They have completely shut the Coast Road from Moonfleet Roundabout. There seems to be a lot of people in the same situation as me."

Dorset Police said: "At 4.42pm on Monday 10 June 2024, Dorset Police received a report of a road traffic collision involving a motorcycle and a van in Bramdon Lane in Weymouth between the junctions for Rodden and Langton Herring.

"Officers are currently in attendance with the ambulance and fire services.

"The road is currently closed between Portesham and Chickerell.

"A man has been taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries."

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service, South Western Ambulance Service and the Wiltshire Air Ambulance have been contacted for more information. 

This latest crash comes after a spate of horror collisions along the coast road running from Weymouth to Bridport.

A man from Bridport, who was in his sixties died in a car crash on Portesham Hill on Thursday, June 6, whilst a young motorcyclist in his twenties from Weymouth died in a crash on Abbotsbury Hill on Saturday June 1.
