A stage retelling of a medieval legend will be performed in Dorset, revealing how one of the earliest Kings of England met a brutal fate near Corfe Castle.
The Shaftesbury Tales, a local twist on Chaucer’s The Canterbury Tales, is a production by Treehouse Theatre.
A selection of stories from local people will be interwoven into the central tale of Edward the Martyr - a teenage medieval King who met a brutal death in Corfe Castle.
The circumstances surrounding his murder including who was involved and what happened remain unclear. Each production will tell a different version of what happened with its own unique cast and tales.
The stories were selected from a short story writing competition launched by the theatre company early this year.
It will be performed at the Child Okeford village hall on Saturday, July 20 at 4pm, featuring members of the Remix the Originals Theatre Group and participants from an afternoon workshop.
Tickets are available to purchase from the Artsreach website: https://artsreach.co.uk/event/drama-workshop
