A WEYMOUTH building, close to the rail station, could be converted to offices.

Last used by Steve’s Barbers an application for a change of use for the King Street building has been approved by Dorset Council.

It includes converting all four floors for professional commercial use, the top floors having previously been used as letting rooms.

The building is within the town’s conservation area and is listed, grade 2.

A planning application from the Pharaoh Law company says that apart from removing the barber’s pole and signage all the  changes to the building would be internal, mainly by removing or altering studwork to re-configure the rooms.

Weymouth Town Council and Dorset Council’s conservation officer raised no objection to the changes.
