A MAJOR road in Dorset has been closed due to a serious crash.
Police officers rushed to the scene of a crash on the A350 between Shaftesbury and Compton Abbas at around 8.30pm last night.
Travel Dorset is reporting that the crash was a multi-vehicle crash.
Dorset Police have confirmed that the pedestrian - a man aged in his 60s from Warminster in Wiltshire - has died.

The A350 remains closed this morning as investigation work takes place.
The road is closed between A30 Christys Lane (Royal Chase Roundabout, Shaftesbury) and Chapel Lane.
Dinah's Hollow is the diversion route following the crash.
Last night, a spokesperson for North Dorset Police said: "The A350 between Shaftesbury and Compton Abbas is closed due to a serious accident and will be closed for some time.
"Please find alternative routes."
A spokesperson for the Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service added: "Officers are currently at the scene of a road traffic collision on the A350 Main Road near Compton Abbas in North Dorset.
"The road is closed between Shaftesbury and Blandford to allow emergency services to deal with the incident.
"We would ask motorists to please seek alternative routes."
Dorset Police has been contacted for an update this morning.
