A GARAGE site off Monmouth Road, Dorchester has been refused planning consent for three homes.

The application for the garage block, east of 143 Monmouth Road, was considered in principle for its access and the scale of the proposed development.

Highway officers had expressed concern about developing the site saying the proposed parking spaces would be too small and it was unclear where service vehicles for an electric substation would park.

Neighbours had complained the proposal would be overbearing and overlook their homes while the loss of the garages would add to the pressure for on-street parking in the area.
