COASTGUARDS were called to a boat which had been damaged and left on the beach.

Kimmeridge Coastguard rescue team was called to a report of a vessel aground at Charnel, in Kimmeridge Bay on Sunday, May 26.

The team had received a message from a concerned member of the public about a boat that had possibly been left at charnel due to being damaged.

A spokesperson for Kimmeridge coastguard said: "With the information passed on to the control room that the boat had possibly been left on the beach and was possibly below the high tide line they decided to task us to make sure the vessel had been removed and wasn’t in danger of becoming obstacles for other vessels and cause for concern for the public.

"Once on scene the OIC (officer in charge) sent a small search team to search the area and see if the vessel was still there. Thankfully the owners of the boat had removed it from the beach and there was now no concern for it.

"The search team then went back and with thanks from Solent stood down and returned to station."
