An historic Dorset building was at the centre of a rescue training exercise.

Kingston Maurward College teamed up with Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service to carry out a joint training exercise.

A scenario was set up where casulaties needed to be rescued from the basement of the college's Grade I main building after a fire broke out.

In total six crews, totalling 30 firefighters from across Dorset took part in the exercise.

A spokesperson for Kingston Maurward College said: "We joined forces with Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue to carry out a joint training exercise.

"The fire service set up a scenario whereby casualties required rescuing from the basement in our historic main house after fire broke out.

"Six fire crews from across Dorset participated in the training exercise, with over thirty firefighters in total taking part - the event was organised as part of essential training for fire crews, as well as informing the College on how to respond in the event of a fire.

"This enabled us to know how to safeguard our beautiful Grade I listed heritage site.

"Our thanks to Dorset & Wiltshire Fire Service for taking part in this amazing event!

"Activities such as this help showcase how we work closely with public services to educate our students."
