A vineyard in Dorchester has won multiple awards at a national wine festival.

Langham Wine Estate secured two gold and two silver accolades in the Sommelier Wine Awards, which reward the best wines on offer for restaurants and bars.

Crawthorne Farm near Dorchester is home to the 75-acre vineyard, with another 10 acres set to be built to celebrate the landmark 15th anniversary.

The vineyard has also been rewarded for its variety of champagne varieties which have ranked among the most celebrated in the country.

All four wines entered into the competition won either gold or silver medals.

The estate also secured a win in the best sparkling wine category at the International Wine and Spirit Competition in 2020.

Tommy Grimshaw, Head Winemaker for the estate, said: “Being recognised by sommeliers is incredibly important to us, especially being recognised by some of the best in the industry.”

All of the wines produced by the company are vegan or vegetarian, which the company was also applauded for.

“All of our wines are hand-harvested using grapes grown on our vineyard here in rural Dorset,” Tommy added. “Our south-facing aspect, chalk soils and unique microclimate make for a perfect environment.”
