A FORMER Weymouth harbourside pizza restaurant is to be converted into two apartments.
The building, shared with the Harbour Masters team, at 13 Custom House Quay, previously had a restaurant on the second and third floors.
Dorset Council has approved the change of use which includes internal alterations and the addition of four Velux windows to the rear of the building as well as a new sash window to the first floor Harbour Masters office.
The building is Grade 2 listed within the town’s Conservation Area and was originally used as a warehouse, built in the Flemish style.
The second and third floors were first converted into a pizza house in 2011 but the business eventually sold its interest to another catering firm, The Loft, which only traded for a short period before closing down – with the upper floors remaining empty for at least two years.
The two new flats will both have two bedrooms with the other uses in the building unaffected by the changes.
Weymouth Town Council had raised no objections to the change of use.
Adjoining properties have already been partly converted to flats and a house.
