An array of flowers that were planted as part of a wellbeing project have bloomed across a community in Dorset.
Flowers planted by the Nature for Wellbeing project have been blooming across Poundbury, welcoming the start of summer.
The flowers planted will benefit endangered wildlife, as Dr King explains, “The wildflower meadows of Poundbury are at their best now, with dramatic displays of colour on The Great Field, The Swale, Middle Farm Way, Monkey Jump corner and Fire Station Green.
“Kidney Vetch is the food plant for the endangered Small Blue butterfly, while Bee Orchids fool Bumble Bees into pollinating their flowers. Yellow-Rattle, as well as being a valuable source of nectar and pollen for insects, also helps by feeding off the roots of grasses, which weakens them, helping the smaller flowers to flourish.”
