'Stop and go' boards are causing delays on a busy Weymouth route.

Littlemoor Road is currently undergoing retexturing before it can undergo asphalt preservation work.

This work is being done from 9.30am to 2.30pm, starting today and will end on Friday, June 7.

A specialist vehicle is gradually moving up the road as part of these works. It is being followed by stop-and-go boards which work as portable traffic signals.

Road re-texturing is the process of blasting and cleaning the carriageway with water to roughen the road surface to restore micro and macro surface texture.

A specialist vehicle travels along the road first removing excess debris, and then blasts the carriageway with high-pressure water to etch and refresh the surface aggregate. This increases the surface texture of the road, making the surface more skid-resistant.

This machine simultaneously clears the detritus from the re-texturing process.
