A man was stopped and searched for police after attempting to shoplift in the town centre.
Officers from Weymouth and Portland Neighbourhood Policing team were on patrol in the town on Saturday, June 1.
During the patrols, officers were alerted to a man attempting to shoplift in Weymouth town centre and causing a nuisance on The Esplanade.
The man was stopped by police and searched outside McDonalds at the Jubilee Retail Park.
No stolen items were located and the man was provided with safeguarding support before being removed from the area.
A spokesperson for Weymouth and Portland Police said: “Neighbourhood Policing Officers from the town centre team conducting 100DOS patrols were alerted to a man attempting to shoplift in Weymouth town centre who was causing a nuisance on The Esplanade.
“Officers located and detained the man for a stop and search outside McDonalds at the Jubilee Retail Park.
“The man was provided safeguarding support regarding his circumstances. No stolen items were located and the man was removed from the area.”
