Police officers have increased patrols around a scenic area of Bridport highlighted as hotspots for anti-social behaviour.

High visibility patrols have been continuing across the county as part of Dorset Police's 100 Days of Summer initiative, which targets anti-social behaviour.

The neighbourhood policing team will build on the success of past campaigns by working with members of Dorset Council’s Community Safety Accreditation Scheme (CSAS) to provide 100 days of highly visible uniformed foot patrol during the summer months.

Dorchester Police say the Borough Gardens in Bridport are targeted by groups of youths acting in an antisocial manner and patrolled the area accordingly yesterday evening. No incidents in the area were reported that evening.

A spokesperson for Dorchester Police said: “PCSOs 6534 and 6500 patrolled the area of Borough Gardens in Bridport on Friday evening.

“This is a beautiful garden area which is sometimes spoilt by groups of youths acting in an antisocial manner.

“This behaviour impacts on local residents and visitors to the park. This evening on our walk through the area it was peaceful”

There has also been further patrols around the riverwalks in Dorchester following a marked increase in anti-social behaviour including youths targeting wildlife with catapults.

The spokesperson added: "Further patrols this evening in the area of the riverwalks in Dorchester. Please report any sightings of youths with catapults in the area to Dorset Police quoting Occurrence no.55240077686. "
