A man was arrested after a person tried to enter a night-time venue with a knife.
Weymouth and Portland Police received a report from door staff in Weymouth town centre yesterday evening, Friday May 31, that a man had tried to enter the premises with a knife.
The knife was confiscated by staff and the man was turned away.
A man was subsequently arrested by police for possession of a bladed article in a public place.
A spokesperson for Weymouth and Portland police said: "Yesterday evening officers were alerted by door staff in Weymouth town centre that they had searched a man before he could enter their premises and found a knife on him.
"The knife was retained by staff and he was turned away. He was quickly detained and arrested for possession of a bladed article in a public place by officers before he could try and enter any other premises.
"We will always take a zero tolerance on knives, there is no place for such items in our night time economy."
