DETECTIVES have been granted extra time to hold a man arrested on suspicion of murder in custody.
The 20-year-old man from Croydon was arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder after two women were stabbed on Durley Chine beach.
Amie Gray, 34, tragically died at the scene on Saturday, May 25 while another woman, aged 38, was taken to hospital with serious injuries from further stab wounds.
The injured woman from Poole was discharged from hospital after six days and is continuing to recover.
The man was arrested on Tuesday, May 28 in London and was brought to Dorset for further questioning the following day.
Dorset Police have confirmed that on Friday, May 31 detectives secured a court extension from Poole Magistrates Court for further time to interview the man in custody.
Detective superintendent Richard Dixey, of the Major Crime Investigation Team, said the increased police presence would continue into the weekend.
He said: “The enhanced visible policing presence in the area will remain as we move into the weekend and we continue to urge anyone with information or concerns to please speak to our officers."
He added: “I would also like to repeat our appeal for anyone with any information, no matter how small, that might assist our enquiries to please make contact with us.”
