THE new Mayor of Shaftesbury has named his charity for the upcoming year

On May 14 at the Annual meeting of Shaftesbury Town Council, Councillor Alex Chase was elected as Mayor of Shaftesbury for 2024/2025.

In his role as Mayor, Cllr Chase is considering a range of fundraising events, the proceeds of which will be gifted to a charity of the mayor’s choice.

Cllr Chase has confirmed the Mayor’s Charity for 2024/2025  will be the Brave and Determined Company (BADCo).

The charity was set up by two Adams who have both suffered with mental health challenges in the past.

They sell merchandise including affordable clothing and use the money to give people access to essential counselling services

He said: "I’m thrilled to announce that the Mayor's charity for 2024/25 will be the Brave and Determined company. BADCo is an incredible charity dedicated to funding counselling for those struggling with mental health challenges.

"Their work not only helps those who can't afford counselling otherwise, it helps to ease the stress on NHS services that are already overstretched.

"Adam and Adam have a great vision for their work and a plan for the future that is incredibly exciting and deserves our support.

"We are looking forward to working with them over the next year to raise money and awareness for their fantastic work."
