A community group is hosting a number of activities to improve the mental health and wellbeing of veterans.

The Veterans Hub is a community project, with the intent of providing a safe and secure location for veterans and their families to come together in an environment that would enable them to socialise in a non-clinical setting in order to provide peer to peer support for each other.

At present it hosts a number of groups for both veterans and members of the public.

This includes a bereavement group which takes place fortnightly on a Thursday from 6pm-8pm and is open to all, a veteran’s model making group which takes place fortnightly on the opposite Thursdays from 6pm-8pm.

Additionally, there is a chess club running from 10am-12pm every Thursday and a carers group which takes place on the first Monday of every month from 1pm-3pm and an arts and craft group.

Various holistic therapies are also open to veterans, their families, and those still serving, which can be booked through the hub welfare office and members can also enjoy the use of a fully equipped gym, allotment, and private garden area.
