A SHOW based upon a beloved film promises to offer no better entertainment in Dorset bar nun.
Wessex Musical Theatre is bringing the West End to Dorchester with performances of Sister Act.
The show will be staged at the Thomas Hardye Theatre from Wednesday, May 29 to Saturday, June 1.
The show features a marvellous Motown-inspired score by the legendary Alan Menken.
This feel-good, thrilling and rousing musical, comes from the film starring Whoopi Goldberg.
This story of music, mishaps and nuns on the run is a joyous and uplifting tale of finding your voice and singing out, with your sisters by your side.
The action begins when lounge singer Deloris witnesses a murder and is placed in a convent to hide from her gangster boyfriend. As she spends time with her fellow nuns, she inspires them to find their true voices, sing out loud and proud, and save the church from financial ruin.
Featuring music by Oscar winner Alan Menken and songs inspired by Motown, soul and disco, such as ‘Take me to Heaven’, ‘Sunday Morning Fever’, and ‘Spread the Love Around’, this heavenly musical is a joyous, uplifting must-see show, which will raise your spirits and warm your soul!
The Wessex Musical Theatre show features Stella Brading ('unexpected star' of Michael McIntyres's Big Show) as Mother Superior.
Tom Howden will direct and musical director is Jon May. Shakira Berrisford has done the choreography.
There will be performances each evening at 7.30pm and a matinee on Saturday, June 1 at 2.30pm.
