A man had his nose broken and was taken to hospital after reportedly being assaulted in West Bay.
The incident happened in George Street where a man in his 20s sustained a suspected broken nose and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Officers attended and, following enquiries, a 19-year-old Bridport man was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
It was further reported that the man assaulted two police officers as he was being transported to custody and he was also arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker.
He has been released on police bail as further enquiries are carried out.
Dorset Police received the report of an assault at around 7.50pm on Tuesday, May 21 2024 and has today issued an appeal for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
Police Constable Jessica Burton, of the Weymouth Volume Crime Team, said: “We are continuing to investigate this report of assault and I am keen to hear from any witnesses who may be able to assist our investigation.
“I would also like to hear from anyone who may have captured any relevant home CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage from the area around the time of the incident.”
