An increase in attacks on birds and wildlife using slingshots has been reported along a picturesque Dorchester walking path.
Dorchester Police states there has been an increase in reports of birds and wildlife being injured by individuals with catapults.
The Dorchester Neighbourhood Team has been conducting patrols along the riverwalks to monitor the situation.
A spokesperson for Dorchester Police said: "The Dorchester Neighbourhood Team has been conducting patrols along the riverwalks in Dorchester, due to increased reports of birds and wildlife being injured by individuals with catapults.
"Should you witness this kind of offence, please report at the time via 999 /101 as this is a crime.
"We will continue to monitor and engage with the local community to resolve the ongoing issues."
