OVER a thousand bikes rumbled through the conurbation as part of one of the world's biggest Distinguished Gentlemen's Bike Rides.

The biggest Distinguished Gentlemen's Bike Ride in England rode through Dorset after departing from Poole Quay at 10am and ending in Sopley at 12.50pm.

One of the biggest DBGR events in the world, 1044 riders registered to take part in the event and have so far raised over £70,000 for Movember.

Rider, Ian Burr, 57, from Lymington, said: "I love the camaraderie, the support for prostate cancer for us fellas and the buzz of it.

"This is the third time I've done it and I love the way bikes can bring so much joy to people watching and also to people that are riding them."

Ian, with his wife, Kelly Burr, 55, rode in on their 1968 generator shovel Harley Davidson which they have owned for 10 months.

Rescued from Wales, the bike originally came from Idaho and took Ian three months to repair with Ian making sure to to keep it as original as possible.

Nicknamed the 'Dirty Jenny', Ian stated that it's 'hell-bent on spewing oil everywhere and every time I go near it, I get dirty'.
