A man has been taken to hospital with a 'serious injury' after a two vehicle crash forced a road to close near Sherborne.
At around 9.30am this morning, emergency services rushed to a collision on the A30 near Barton Gardens which has resulted in the road being blocked and police have been forced to close the road.
The man had to be cut free by firefighters before being taken to Yeovil District Hospital to be treated for his serious injury.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "At 9.42am on Friday, May 10 2024, Dorset Police received a report of a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the A30 near Sherborne.
"Officers are in attendance with the fire and ambulance services. The road is currently blocked. A man has been taken to hospital for treatment to a serious injury.
A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 09.30am on Friday, May 10 to an incident in Sherborne.
"We sent two double-crewed land ambulances and one land ambulance to the scene and conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Yeovil District Hospital."
A spokesperson Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We received a call 9.43am this morning about a road traffic collision on Barton Gardens, Sherborne.
"Crews from Sherborne and Yeovil attended the incident.
"Firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to free one casualty who was then left in the care of ambulance colleagues."
