A local fundraising group has received £1,500 after receiving the most votes from members of the public to be supported by a supermarket’s campaign.
The Dorchester and Weymouth Fundraising Group for Marie Curie was recently presented the money at the Tesco Dorchester store off Weymouth Avenue.
Marie Curie, a charity which provides hospice care and support for people with terminal illnesses, received the most votes in the shop’s Stronger Starts Campaign between October to January. The funding will be used for nursing care.
Group Chairperson, Helen Peach accepted the cheque along with some members of the fundraising group.
She said: “On behalf of Marie Curie I would like to thank Natalie Hall [Tesco Dorchester Community Champion] staff at Tesco Dorchester and everyone that voted for us in store. This is an amazing amount of money to receive and will help people in Dorset receive the care that they need by our Nurses and Health Care Assistants.”
