A moped rider has been issued with a Section 59 Warning Notice following anti-social use of a vehicle in Dorchester.
Police responded to reports regarding the anti-social use of mopeds in the Poundbury are of the county town yesterday evening (Monday, April 29).
A photo posted on Facebook by Dorchester Police shows the trio were around Crown Square in the North East Quadrant of the development.
One rider was handed a Section 59 Warning Notice as a result of information provided to the police by members of the public.
Two other riders were given advise before leaving the area.
A Section 59 notice can be issued in the event that a constable has reasonable grounds for believing that a motor vehicle has been driven in a careless and inconsiderate or anti-social manner.
If the motorist or vehicle is issued a second Section 59 within 12 months, the vehicle can be seized.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “We have received a number of reports regarding the anti-social use of mopeds in the Poundbury area this evening.
“One rider has been issued with a Section 59 Warning Notice as a result of information that was provided by members of the public. Two other riders have been given suitable words of advice and dispersed from the area.
“Please continue to report your concerns to us so we can take the appropriate action and direct our patrols accordingly.”
