ROAD re-surfacing works are to be done on a main road near a Dorset village.

Part of the A352 near Cerne Abbas will be temporarily closed while carriageway surface dressing works are carried out over a distance of 4,970 metres.

The closure will affect the A352 between its junction with Duck Street and the entrance to Green Valley Yurts.

It is anticipated that the works will be completed between May 30 and June 12.

The dates are a window of opportunity and the road may not be closed for the whole duration stated above and the works are weather dependant.

A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed sections.

The closure order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users.

The order will also impose a parking suspension as indicated by signs on site to prevent parking on the highway on the stretch of the road affected.

A clearway will be imposed as indicated by signs on site to prevent waiting on the highway.

Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by this Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.
