A FOOTBALL legend joined dozens of excited residents for the opening of a new convenience store.
Harry Redknapp cut the ribbon to mark the official opening of the new modern Premier store at Penn Hill Road in Poole.
In September, the former Co-op closed to the public and was quickly taken over by new owners Veli and Mehmet Bulbul.
The brothers already own three businesses in the area - two corner shops and a bakery.
They said: “We are really chuffed with the result.
“We’re very pleased with the result, and it’s really great to hear from members of the public that they’re absolutely amazed and excited about it.”
The new store has two drink caves, one for alcohol and one for soft drinks, an array of snacks and convenience items, a bakery, and multiple drink machines, including coffee and bubble tea.
Mehmet said: “When people look from the outside, it is very easy for them to just see another corner shop.
“But there has been so much hard work and effort that has gone into opening the store.
“When people come in to appreciate what we’ve done, it makes us even more motivated, “We are really looking forward to the future and getting to know the customers.”
Harry Redknapp cut the ribbon and was the first customer to enter the new shop.
When asked about the shop, Harry said: “The shop looks great, it’s amazing what they’ve done with the place.
“It’s nice for the people to have a shop right on their doorstep.”
