A WOMAN has admitted being drunk and disorderly in a public place.
Jane Keith, 54, and of Steer Road in Swanage, appeared at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court on Friday, April 12 via video link from HMP Eastwood.
Keith is currently in prison serving a 10-week sentence from March 28 for a previous offence.
Robert Salame, prosecuting, told the court that a member of the public saw the defendant in Swanage High Street, drunk on March 22, 2024, and being abusive to other members of the public.
Magistrates heard that Keith then entered a Budgens store on Station Road, which is when police officers attended.
Mr Salame said: “Keith was swearing and holding an opened half bottle of brandy and smelt heavily of alcohol. When she saw the officers she began shouting and swearing phrases like f*** off.”
He went on to say that Keith ‘refused to be handcuffed so officers had to take her down to the floor in order to handcuff her and she was then arrested for being drunk and disorderly.’
The defendant pleaded guilty and was fined £80 with a surcharge of £32 and prosecution costs of £85.
