A charity providing accessible boat trips to wheelchair users and people living with disabilities in Weymouth has received a £1k boost.
Weymouth & Portland Lions Club President Ryan Hope, Kevin the Lion, and fellow lions Trevor Stratton and John Davies met with volunteers of MV Freedom at North Quay Pontoon to present them with a bumper cheque for £1,000.
MV Freedom provides Weymouth & Portland Lions Club with much-needed assistance every Christmas Day on the water, in the harbour as part of the ever-popular Lions Christmas Day harbour swim.
The 2023 swim was again a successful event, with over 420 swimmers taking part. Proceeds from the swim will be distributed by Weymouth & Portland Lions Club to individuals, charities, and groups such as MV Freedom throughout the year.
Steve from MV Freedom said: “Once again many thanks to Weymouth & Portland Lions Club for this fantastic donation. We will use it to buy much-needed new safety equipment”.
If you would like to add to the club’s donation of £1,000, please make cheques payable to 'Weymouth & Portland Lions Club CIO' and write MV Freedom on the back of the cheque.
Cheques can be sent to Weymouth & Portland Lions Club, C/O 5 Sussex Road, Weymouth, Dorset. DT4 0PL.
