A youth musical theatre group in Weymouth are in the running for five awards.
The WOW Youth Musical Theatre group has received the nominations from the National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA) for their south west awards.
The news comes ahead of the theatre group's April production of Footloose the Musical at Weymouth Pavilion.
All three of WOW's 2023 productions were included in the nominations, including last April's Everybody's Talking About Jamie: Teen Edition', which is in the running for Best Youth Production as well as the Youth Award for Company Characterisation.
The summer production of 'Matilda the Musical JR.' has a nomination for Company Singing and November's 'Oliver!' has two nominations - Best Large Musical as well as for Company Singing.
WOW chairman, Alan McKechan, said: "We are thrilled to receive five nominations as it reflects the consistently high quality of our musical theatre productions.
"I am very grateful to the WOW team for the way they dedicate their talent and energy to make this happen time after time.”
“All the young actors who captivated audiences with their outstanding performances in these shows are back on stage this April for Footloose, once more providing great entertainment for audiences of all ages with the musical’s hit songs, vibrant scenes and exhilarating dance routines.”
The NODA Awards ceremony is due to take place in May 2024 with WOW competing against the best amateur dramatic productions from around 300 societies across the south west region.
The WOW team are ready to stage their April production of Footloose the Musical at Weymouth Pavilion.
This is directed and choreographed by Martine Burt, who directed two of the nominated shows and recently won the NODA award for Outstanding Choreography for the second time.
WOW is a youth-focused charity that looks to develop the confidence, teamwork and talent of young people aged between 10 and 18-year-old by performing musical theatre.
At these shows, hundreds of pounds are also raised for charities through bucket collections.
Footloose runs from Wednesday, April 3 to Saturday, April 6 with performances from 7pm each evening and a Saturday matinee show at 2pm.
