A MOTORCYCLIST has died in a crash with a car in Dorset.

The male rider, in his 30s and from Brighton, was riding a black Kawasaki in Horton Road, Ashley Heath, at around 5.20pm on Friday, February 23.

He was involved in a crash with a black Vauxhall Grandland near the junction with Woolsbridge Road.

Police, fire and the ambulance service attended the scene, and the road was closed to motorists and pedestrians.

According to Flight Radar, an air ambulance was also tasked to respond to the incident, but hovered around before heading back to its base without landing.

Sadly, the motorcyclist had been pronounced dead at the scene. His family were informed.

The driver of the Vauxhall, a man aged in his 70s from Weston-super-Mare in Somerset, did not sustain any serious injuries.

The road closure remained in place while officers examined the scene.

“We are carrying out a full investigation to establish the circumstances of this collision and I would urge any witnesses to please contact us.

“I would also urge any motorists with dashcam fitted who were driving in the vicinity around the time of the incident to please review their footage to check if they have captured anything of relevance.

“Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding during the road closures.

"These are absolutely necessary to allow the emergency services to respond and for a detailed examination of the collision scene to be conducted.”
