Enquiries are continuing into a crash which resulted in a man in his 60s sustaining 'life-changing' injuries.

Dorset Police received a report of a collision involving a black Ford Fiesta hatchback and a bicycle at Chalbury Corner at 4.55 pm on Monday, January 22.

Police shut Preston Road while officers, firefighters and paramedics work at the scene. 

The cyclist – a man aged in his 60s – was flown to Southampton General Hospital by air ambulance for treatment to injuries that are described as life-changing.

Eyewitnesses saw four police cars, two fire crews and two ambulances in attendance. 

Police enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "There is no further update, no arrests have been made and enquiries are continuing."
