A pub is hosting a quiz night to raise money for a local charity.

The Trumpet Major on Alington Avenue in Dorchester will host a quiz to raise money for the North, South and West Dorset Age UK branch.

Taking place on Friday, March 29, the quiz is set to start at 7.30pm. Entry to the event will cost £3 per person and people can play in up to teams of six.

Raffle tickets will also be available to purchase on the night and there will be a prize for the winning team.

The Trumpet Major pub has committed to supporting the charity through a variety of fundraising activities throughout the year, with the pub also stocking brochures and leaflets that promote the charity's initiatives.

Nathan Wray, the pub’s manager, said: “We chose Age UK as our charity partner for the year as the Trumpet Major and Marston’s are all about a community focused approached and focus on making connections with people and bringing people together, which is at the very heart of what Age UK do, by supporting people in the local area.

"For those that are by themselves or have lost a partner recently it's a chance for them to engage and interact with each other and come together – this is what we’re all about here at the pub.”
