A crewman onboard a yacht off Portland was injured, sparking a major emergency response.
The Weymouth Lifeboat were called to an injured yacht crewmember off Portland Bill Lighthouse yesterday evening.
The lifeboat towed the yacht into Weymouth Harbour where they were met by the Wyke Regis Coastguard Rescue Team at 8.15pm who helped secure the vessel and provide casualty care before the ambulance arrived.
A spokesperson for the Wyke Coastguard Rescue Team said: "We were tasked at 8.15pm to meet Weymouth Lifeboat on Alpha Pontoon, Weymouth Harbour.
"They had towed a yacht from a position close to Portland Bill light after a crewman suffered an injury.
"Wyke secured the vessel alongside, and provided casualty care and shelter until a South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust arrived on the scene."
Later on Saturday at 10.56pm the Wyke Coastguard team were called to assist the Portland Bill Coastguard team with a missing person but they were stood down en route.
