Part of the coast road between Bridport and Weymouth was closed earlier following a crash.

The route, the B3157, was closed between Malthouse Meadow (Portesham) and Glebe Close (Abbotsbury).

There was queuing traffic in the area as motorists attempt to find an alternative route.

Police, ambulance paramedics and firefighters were called to deal with the incident. Dorset Police received a call about the two-vehicle crash at 11.47am on Saturday.

A Dorset Police spokesperson said at 2.40pm today: "We can confirm we are in attendance at a road traffic collision involving two vehicles.

"The incident is ongoing and the road remains closed currently."

Police could not confirm details of any injuries.

The road was later reopened.
