Two men are being quizzed by police after officers caught suspected thieves following a chase around a housing estate.
Police said they recovered a knife, a catapult and property thought to be stolen after detaining the suspects in Weymouth last night.
It came after a report of someone breaking into a car in the Lodmoor area.
Weymouth & Portland Police said: "(On Friday) evening officers from Weymouth response attended reports of persons breaking into a vehicle on Larkspur Close. On arrival two males ran off from police.
"Officers were hot on their heels and caught (the suspects) who were detained and searched after a short foot chase.
"A knife and a catapult were located along with what we believe to be stolen property."
The team said they were aware of "other similar incidents in the area recently" and these offences will be considered along with any potential evidence when the arrested people are interviewed.
