CONCERNS have been raised that street lighting in the Park District area of Weymouth is "poor".

A Weymouth resident has told Dorset Police officers that lighting in the neighbourhood is "poor" and some surfaces are "uneven".

She was giving feedback as part of a community engagement scheme.

As part of the “Walk & Talk” scheme, Neighbourhood Engagement Officer Amanda took a walk with a local woman around the Park District on Wednesday, February 14.

A spokesperson for Weymouth and Portland Police said: "As we walked the lady discussed her concerns over areas where the lighting was poor and surfaces were uneven, and it was great to chat about possible solutions and how best to raise these issues with the relevant agencies."

The “Walk & Talk” scheme is for women aged 16 and over who live or work in Weymouth, Portland and Dorchester and provides women with the opportunity to walk with a female officer.

During the walk they can discuss views on women’s safety as well as experiences as they walk through areas that they feel vulnerable in.
